With this project, which included a jacquard outcome, I was able to create more figurative samples. With this in mind, I thought it would be interesting to incorporate imagery of weaving equipment. I wanted to encourage the consumer to have a newfound appreciation for the making process – by the design of the sample being based on the very items used to create them.

In this project, I wanted to investigate tales of the ocean and marine life. In particular, I focused on Jellyfish. There are many tales surrounding them and their mysteries from across the world. The fluidity of jellyfish tentacles works well with tassels of this passamentrie collection.

Inspired by a walk along the canal bank, I wanted to look into life living on the water. This transitioned into an exploration of nautical themes. This influenced my choice to experiment with lino weaving as the effect it gives is reminiscent of fishing nets.

This project was a client project for Begg and Co. and ReWeave. We worked with the guidance of Kirsty McDougall on a brief from Begg and Co. with a selection of their waste materials.

Following the Christmas celebrations at my family home, I was inspired by what we do to get everyone together. Having a mish-mash of all different tables and chairs to accommodate all of your loved ones. I wanted to convey the warm feeling of community and togetherness that you only experience on those special occasions.

I was looking back at folklore and creating my own narrative surrounding characters that appeared in my photography. In particular, the folklore tale of “The Barnacle Goose” that depicts the conception of geese from barnacles that grow on trees, and their survival depends on whether or not they land on water.

After a trip to New York, I wanted to capture both the lively energy of the city and the industrial nature of its landscapes. I achieved this through energetic mark making and the contrasting colour palette of both muted and impactful tones.
